The following web sites have been particularly useful

www.ancestry.co.uk

My main site for investigation. The cost of £ 69 p.a. has been well worth it

freebmd.rootsweb.com The other main site where I search for births, marriages and deaths for free
www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content The government site where I request copies of birth, marriage and death certificates from the information on the freebmd site
www.genuki.org.uk A useful site for all sorts of things but I use particularly for information about places
www.multimap.com For tracing where relatives lived
www.nationalarchives.gov.uk A Government site where I found the discharge papers of the Bussicott soldiers
www.bbc.co.uk/history/familyhistory The BBC site
www.ffhs.org.uk From this I joined a number of local family history societies which have been useful

I have also delved into lots of other sites including the following
