George, our direct ancestor,
had been born on 11th December 1860 in
Marylebone. He was still living with his mother in the
1881 Census in Willesden as a 20 year old ostler groom.
He married Susan
Hilton (born in Chelsea in 1864) – I have not yet
traced a marriage certificate.
The first son, George,
was born in 1888 in Whitechapel. We believe he married
Nell/Ellen (who was connected to the Tanner family) and
had three children. This is an avenue yet to follow up.
Henrietta
Agnes was born on 23rd
May 1890 (BC) in Pimlico ( I have her birth
certificate) and she was of course my grandmother who
later married James Bussicott and they had Jimmy, my
Mum, Agnes and George.
In the 1891
Census George (30) was living with Susan (26) at 34
Commercial Road in St George Hanover Square. George was
a groom/ostler. Also living with them were George (3)
and Henrietta (1). Also there was a boarder, James Brown
a 36 year old picture framer, and also a lodger George
Hill a retired butler.
Honor
Susan was
born in the last three months of 1892 in St George
Hanover Square.
We believe that she lived in
Hounslow was married but had no children.
Edward
Thomas was born in the last three months of 1895 in
Chelsea. He was known as “Bumper” and I have vague
memories of him going with us to watch Chelsea in the
1950’s. We
believe he was in the Coldstream Guards and later the
War Graves Commission. His first wife died and his
second wife was Wynn and they had two boys David and
Edward. He died in the 1950’s. What happened to the
boys and their relatives has not yet been determined.
